It also has excellent thermodynamic properties and low energy usage making it suitable for a range of applications such as industrial heat extraction, chilled warehousing, shipping vessels, commercial refrigeration, and mobile air conditioning. One major difference between R744 and other refrigerants is its pressure/temperature characteristic: because of its high pressure and low critical temperature, refrigeration systems require special equipment designs.

Retrofit gas or design for new equipment? |
R744 is suitable for new R744 systems. It has high pressure and a low critical temperature, therefore it is not suitable for retrofitting existing fluorocarbon refrigerant systems. |

Further Information
Linde is one of the largest suppliers of carbon dioxide in the world, with a substantial global production and distribution network. We are able to produce a wide range of product qualities for use in industrial processes, up to 6.0 quality, with very low moisture levels, if necessary.
As a leading supplier of refrigerant gases, The Linde Group is committed to supplying the right refrigerant for your business. Although the standard universal specification for R744 is currently under review, we are aware that the moisture content is critical in refrigeration systems. Therefore Linde offers refrigerant grade R744 carbon dioxide in many markets. This product has extremely low levels of moisture, normally below 10ppm by weight. Industrial grade carbon dioxide does not meet this requirement.
